MARIEL (MARibavir In real-world Expanded access programs: Longitudinal evaluation)
Objectif(s) de la recherche et intérêt pour la santé publique
Finalité de l'étude
Objectifs poursuivis
Domaines médicaux investigués
Bénéfices attendus
By analyzing data from the compasionate use program (CUP), Accès précoce (AP2) and routine clinical practice after termination of early-access authorization, our study addresses an important public interest gap in our understanding of how the treatment is used in everyday care and what performance outcomes can be achieved in real world settings. The results will: (1) inform clinicians about expected viral‑clearance rates, optimal treatment duration, and factors that influence success or failure; (2) guide health‑policy makers in assessing the value of maribavir in SOT/HSCT patients; and (3) contribute substantively to the scientific literature on CMV management, thereby improving the care of patients.

Justification du recours à cette(ces) variable(s) sensible(s)
Date de naissance : Required for identification of patients by health professionals. Allows calculation of age at transplant and at treatment start; key variable to describe patients’ characteristics and a covariate in multivariable models (secondary objectives).
Date des soins (transplantation, biologie, consultation de suivi) : permet le calcul du délai entre l'évènement et la prise en charge.
Date and cause of death: pour évaluer la sécurité de l'utilisation du médicament et la survie en vie réelle.

Patients will be informed of the secondary use of their data in the context of the present study through dedicated information letters (collective and individual): posters will be displayed in the waiting rooms of prescribing physicians, and physicians will provide eligible post-program patients who received maribavir with an information letter. Patients will have the opportunity to object to the reuse of data already collected for further analyses in this study. Users (physicians) can modify their personal data directly by logging into their SKEZIA account. They may also contact SKEZIA administrators / support team through the SKEZIA platform (available online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week). Users may also reach Takeda through the contact indicated in the information letter to request changes to any of their personal data collected. By contacting, as they prefer, either their health professional involved in the study or Takeda’s DPO, who will ensure—in coordination with SKEZI, if necessary—that their request is handled in accordance with the GDPR. The right to delete will not apply, in the context of this study, when data are processed for pharmacovigilance purposes, as pharmacovigilance is a legal obligation of Takeda and serves a public interest in the field of public health (Article 17.3.a) and Article 17.3.c) of the GDPR).
